The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (0B/GYN) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
in Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking 2 physicians to fill open faculty positions in the Gynecologic Oncology Division. The division currently consists of two full-time GOG-affiliated faculty members who work closely with the
Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. A center of excellence at UAMS, the Cancer Institute is Arkansas's only comprehensive cancer treatment and research facility.
The Gynecologic Oncology Service provides state-of -the-art technology and treatment options with over 500 new patients admitted and 650 oncologic surgeries per year and is fully equipped for minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci Robotic Systems. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology holds a rich history of training future caregivers and acting as a liaison with regional hospitals and practitioners across the state. This statewide relationship is fortified through education and consultations provided through ANGELS, the nation's largest, most active, and nationally recognized 0B/GYN telemedicine program. In addition, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is known for offering leadership in providing excellent clinical care and medical school student and resident education.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in interfacing with the Rockefeller Cancer Institute to develop a
strong research program, pursuing research grants, and launching endeavors that will single out UAMS as a national leader in translational research. The candidate must be board-eligible or board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Further, it is expected this candidate would be a fellowship-trained gyn oncologist.
The 0B/GYN Department is located in Little Rock, Arkansas's capital city, in the College of Medicine at the state's only academic medical center. UAMS serves patients from across the state of Arkansas.
UAMS is comprised of the College of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Health, and Public Health.
The Oncology Division practices at University Hospital in a 500-bed facility owned by the University of Arkansas System, the state's largest employer. Through the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, the opportunity exists to develop recruitment packages based on experience and academic interests.
Dr. Curtis Lowery, the Chairman of the Department of 0B/GYN, is an established NIH-funded researcher with research projects spanning the course of 10 continuous years, while also serving as the Principal Investigator on the
UAMS Center for Translational Research Award, Director at the UAMS Translational Research Institute, and Founder
and Director of ANGELS and the Center for Distance Health.
