The PRN Psychologist (or LPE-I) on the Child Diagnostic Unit at the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute works as part of an interdisciplinary team to primarily provide diagnostic testing services to children admitted to the CDU and their families.
Duties may include occasional direct clinical services to patients and families, including but not limited to, participating in the diagnostic assessment and discharge processes, individual therapy, family therapy, communicating with outpatient service providers, schools, other agencies or individuals to help gather information to aid in the assessment, treatment/evaluation and discharge process for each patient.
Group interventions/activities for children or families may also become a part of required duties when the need arises. While it is preferable that most clinical services are provided face to face on the unit or in the office, some collateral and family sessions may be held by phone when it is difficult for families to visit every week. May be asked to flex their schedule to accommodate families who may have to schedule sessions or visits after hours or on weekends.
